The preferred drug delivery system today is represented by tablets, which are manu- factured using tablet press machine in which powder is lled in a die and that powder is compressed in a die by upper and lower punch. The engineering arm of the CADILA group, Karnavati Engineering Ltd (KEL), is a well-established ( 1981 AD) manufacturer of \RIMEK" Brand of precision com- ponents and machinery for pharmaceuticals and allied industries. They are manu- facturing the tablet press machine of different capacity and capsule lling machine and many more product like packaging machine , laboratory equipments, granulation equipments etc.. Gen-Xi tablet press is one of them. The objective of the project is to relook into the design of the machine and to reduce the weight of machine. 3D CAD model of rotary tablet press is prepared in SolidEdge. De flection and stresses at various critical points are determined using FEA tols Redesign and optimization for the di ferent components of machine is carried out considering the Tablet Speci cation Manual (TSM) standards at the same time keep- ing comparable machine structure accuracy and productivity. To reduce the weight of the machine topology and shape optimization is carried out with OPTISTRUCT software.en_US
