The aim of this project is to design and develop an automated spinning module which can be attached to convectional lathe machine for manufacturing of milk can. The milk can is used for storage and transportation of milk. Presently milk can is manufactured using two manufacturing processes namely deep drawing and spinning. In the rst stage lower cylindrical part of milk can is formed by deep drawing process from circular blank with the help of hydraulic press machine and then this part is transferred to manual spinning lathe machine where top necking part is formed by spinning process. The manual spinning is more labor intensive process and also the quality of product e.g. tolerances and surface roughness is dependent on skill of the worker. Those disadvantages of manual spinning lathe machine can be overcome with using the automated spinning machine by which uniformity of product can achieved easily and accurately. The automated spinning module is an electromechanical type. In this module, desired tool path pro le is achieved by co-ordination of two AC servo motor with ball screw and L.M. Guide. The advantage of this mechanism is that it can manufacture di erent size of milk can having di erent taper angles with di erent spinning process parameters as per standard. The design parameter of spinning process like required power, feed rate, roller diameter, nose radius etc. are calculated. Force analysis of individual component of spinning module is also carried out. Components are designed based on force analysis and then some of the standard components are selected from manufacture's catalogue. Set up is modeled with use of pro-engineer software. Static structural analysis is also carried out using ANSYS for automated spinning module compatible to convectional spinning lathe machine.en_US
