Abstract: Integrated Power Supply (IPS) is a unique rectifier/telecom power supply. It incorporates built-in battery back-up, numerous power accessories and auxiliary power inputs within a single chassis, thus eliminating time-consuming system integration, component sourcing and installation, while saving precious rack space. The technical requirements of SMPS based Integrated Power Supply system ( IPS ) suitable for wayside signalling which is established along the Rail track for Railway signalling and communication purpose. Basically IPS has three modules, i.e. FRBC (Float Rectifier Cum Boost charger) module, Inverter Module and the stack of 32 DC-DC Flyback converter module. This project presents the implementation FRBC (Float Rectifier Cum Boost charger) module. It consists of PFC Boost converter and two switch DC-DC forward converter which are controlled by individual DSPs [TMS320F28062 Piccolo controller]. In FRBC Module the output of the PFC Boost converter is given to the two switch DC-DC Forward Converter, where front end PFC Boost converter is employed to reduced the line current harmonics with power factor correction and its output is 400 V, 8 A , whereas the two-switch forward converter is employed to provide galvanic isolation with good output voltage regulation and its output is 110 V, 20 A. The integration of the two power stages is achieved by a magnetic component that is shared by both stages. This approach not only reduces the size of magnetic components, but also makes it possible to achieve a fully controlled AC-DC converter.
