High power microwave sources are very sensitive and are need to be protected in case of fault. The high voltage DC power supplies are required for powering high power microwave sources, which are considered as the load for this system. These high power devices are to be protected in case of fault and should be cleared within 10 µs. When a fault occurs inside Gyrotron, maximum allowable fault energy is a critical parameter and should not exceed 10 Joule. The crowbar is the device, which protects the load in an event of fault. It is a high voltage switch, which is connected across the high-voltage power supply in parallel with the load. During the fault, this switch operates and diverts the power within the required time, so that the energy deposited in an event of faults does not exceed the specified limit. The HV switch operates when it gets signal from fault sensing device like an arc detector. The dissertation work is related to `Design, Analysis, Simulation Of High Voltm measurement devices such pulse CT and potential dividers. The requirement of crowbar system is that it must be reliable and it should operate quickly i.e it should take minimum time to operate and high voltage should be removed when it gets a TTL signal or optical pulse as a trigger signal from various parts of the system, also it should not miss any shot and at the same time nuisance operation of frequent triggering is also not desirable. A crowbar firing card is designed and implemented in the system along with passive protection system. The software tool used is PSCAD v4.2.1en_US
