The design of pressure vessel is usually made with external attachments and required openings. The most commonly external attachment are the nozzles with their junctions. Under different loading conditions the stress concentration will occur at the junction area. In addition, due to discontinuity of the geometry and difficulties during welding and defect detected there, the junction region will become the weakest point and the failure source of the whole structure. So the design of nozzle junction based on ASME pressure vessel design code is very necessary. This dissertation illustrates the Design of Nozzle for given loading condition. Calculation of Nozzle reinforcement area for cutout made in shell as per ASME pressure vessel design code. Validation of design calculation is done by using PVElite software. Software is developed in VISUAL BASIC 6 to determine the adequacy of reinforcement pad requirement as per ASME SECTION VIII, DIV I. Three dimensional model of the vessel nozzle junction is created using ANSYS. Analysis is carried out for hillside nozzle with 101.6 mm diameter subjected to internal pressure loading. Optimization of the design is carried out through analysis.en_US
