dc.description.abstract | Integrated Digital Enhanced Network (iDEN) system is a wireless technology, devel- oped by Motorola. It is used with the Sprint/Nextel service in U.S. It is the land-mobile radio communication network that integrates several communication services into one platform. Using just one pocket-sized digital handset, it integrates the functionality of digital cellular (Interconnect) service, digital two-way radio (Dispatch) and an always connected internet browser (Packet Data) service into a single platform. Interconnect service is very similar to the cellular service. Users have capability to freely roam to any connected system and maintain full telephone interconnect capability, including circuit-switched data and short message service. Dispatch service allows groups of users or individuals to communicate quickly and easily with each other at the same time. Packet data provides connectionless services. User can access the internet or a company intranet, pick up and send faxes and email by connecting the iDEN terminal to the computer. Dispatch Application Processor (DAP) is the heart of the Dispatch sub-system of iDEN. It establishes, maintains & terminates all the dispatch calls. Di erent script- ing languages have been used to perform di erent tasks inside the DAP. During the development of such tasks, testing is also required. Di erent level of testing is per- formed by daptool, like tasks level testing & integrated testing. Test cases related to di erent tasks of DAP have been tested using the daptool. One of the important tasks of DAP is to generate the bill. The billing le is generated by DAP, at the end of every dispatch call. In Development Integrated Testing(DIT), there was not any mechanism to validate the billing data, generated by DAP internal tasks. The lack of such mechanism in DIT, reduce the quality of DAP testing. In Component Integrated Testing(CIT), The billing les generated by DAP, was veri ed manually. This process took very long time. As the billing le generation is indirectly connected with pro t of service provider. The bill should be generated very accurately, with the proper data of subscriber as well as call details. Daptool has to verify the billing les generated by DAP, in di erent call scenarios and in di erent call environments. So, the enhancement in daptool was required, which validates this billing le with high accuracy. This enhancement in daptool, will introduce the mechanism to validate the billing data automatically during the DIT. All the elds, generated by DAP tasks, will be validated. These elds includes, DAP related data, subscriber related data and call related data. DAP related data contains DAP id and ISDN of DAP. Subscriber related data contains Originator's IMSI, UFMI, ACG id and SAID (Service Area id). It also contains same details of Target MS. Call related data includes Time of call begun, Call duration and type of call. The enhancement also enable daptool to validate the billing le automatically. These billing les contain all the details of that dispatch call. Overall e ffect of this enhancement, has not only improved the quality of testing, but also reduce the time cycle of integrated testing. | en_US |
