dc.description.abstract | Software De ned Radio brings new trends in the technological advance- ment. This gives the facility of upgrading the technology with the help of software up gradation only instead of whole hardware replacement which is more stringent in case of satellite communication where the functionality of the complete system is xed for the operation life of the satellite. In that case, satellite communication system will not be able to support the fast changing technology. Software De ned Radio plays an important role in the satellite communication system whenever a technological change is required. Advance Communication Satellite will have the capabilities to change the complete receiver con gurations according to the communication stan- dards and adaptively demodulate the incoming signal if the Software De ned Radio architecture is employed. Automatic Modulation Recognizer (AMR) is an important subsystem of any Software De ned Radio whose function is to identify unknown modulation at the receiver and to generate enable signals for the corresponding demodulator to bring back the baseband data which could be voice, video or data. This will be very useful in 4th genera- tion communication system where a receiver can receive more than one type of modulation with single receiver. Several techniques used to implement AMR algorithm are presented. A Transform based approach is used here to identify QAM, QPSK and BPSK type of modulation. The proposed method is simulated using MAT- LAB/Simulink and implemented on Xilinx virtex-II pro FPGA device. | en_US |
