Abstract: MANETs are special type of Ad-hoc networks wherein the nodes are mobile and the topology may not be fixed. As there is no central entity to govern the network, all the nodes forming the network cooperate in network management and message passing. This paper is based on the study routing issues in MANET and the most used routing protocols in MANET viz. AODV, DSDV, DSR and AOMDV. An analysis of the said protocols is done on the basis of packet delivery fraction and average end to end delay using NS-2. The paper also proposes a change in AODV for performance improvement.
