Electrochemical oxidation provides sustainability, energy saving, automation and espect for the environment. It is an advanced technology used for the treatment High COD and Ammonical nitrogen bearing water. Refractory wastewater is complex form of effluents containing numerous and inorganic compounds dissolved in it, which must be removed up to a certain level before it is free to make their way of water bodies. A leading manufacturing of the refractory wastewater includes industries dyeing, pharmaceutical and manufacturing of inorganic compounds of the company. Final discharge effluent from CETP is processed in this experiment using step by step different types of electrodes such as Stainless steel, Alloy 20, Titanium and Titanium oxide for different time periods. There is decrease in the value of COD and ammonical nitrogen in every experiment out of which the maximum decrease is observed in case of titanium oxide electrode. It’s the best among all the electrodes for electro chemical oxidation of effluent which leaves the solution colorless and decreases the amount of COD and ammonical nitrogen in desired amount. By using the Electrochemical Oxidation, there was a substantial decrease in Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Ammoniacal Nitrogen and Total Dissolve Solids (TDS) and increase in pH using different electrodes like Stainless steel (SS), Alloy20, Titanium (Ti) and Titanium Oxide (TiO2). Among all the electrodes, SS and alloy20 get corroded while Titanium gets poisoned and Titanium Oxide has no damage on the surface till the experiments done. Various coated plates were utilized for oxidizing effluent. Titanium oxide out of the all coated plates give the best results with 58.85% COD reduction and 65.21% reduction of Ammonical nitrogen with electrochemical oxidation process.en_US
