Abstract: Recently, there has been a significant increase in the research, development and use of distributed generations (DGs) in the electric power system at the distribution level. Most emerging technologies such as micro-turbine, photovotaic, fuel cell, biogas plant, electrical and hybrid vehicles and wind power require a converter to interface with the electrical distribution system. These emerging techologies have lower emissions and the potential to have lower cost negating traditional economies of scale. DC microgrids are attracting more attention because they can lead to more efficient integration of distributed generation compared with traditional AC microgrids. They will enable distributed energy resources usage worldwide at various levels of power delivery and increase the efficiency with which multiple renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic cells, fuel cells and wind turbines can provide aggregate power to group of loads. A wind turbine system prototype based on squirrel cage induction generator will be used to generate energy and the same will be integrated to DC microgrids. Design, simulation, analysis and fabrication of such a prototype and its integration with DC microgrid will be a scope of this work. Likewise wind energy, other renewable will also be a part of DC microgrid. Controlling of DC microgrid and monitoring the performance of individual sources and their controlling mechanism has to be developed. Operation and control of DC mcrogrid under steady state and dynamic conditions will be evaluated and effective and optimized solution will be proposed.
