Abstract: | Unified Push to Talk (UPP) is the work of Motorola Inc.extending PTT (Push to Talk) services over broadband, unifying communication between smartphone and ra- dio users. With this UPP technology, the users can extend their radio PTT talk groups to non radio users, for broader collaboration across the entire government en- terprise and expand their PTT coverage to include their broadband service footprint. UPP is the new architecture added to the iden network , functioning similar to the iden network processor DAP. UPP architecture will support clients on various version of android smartphone with version 4.1 and greater, with the extended functionalities over 3G and 4G wireless communications. It supports instant communication such as one to one communication for alert and barge calls and group call communication for an enterprise and personal talk groups, with the support of presence status. It also supports interoperability across 3G/4G carrier networks and public safety 4G LTE (B and 14) networks and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network). To support UPP enhancement to the iden network, for all the call flows framework or the tool used is the OOTAA (Object oriented Testing and Automation ), and then all the types of call flows scripting is done in python. With the UPP modification in the iden network, the clients such as chiefs, supervisors, on duty officers or anyone who may not always carry a radio can stay connected with their teams anywhere they have broadband service. |
