Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) is an integrated part of Future Internet and could be defined as a dynamic global network infrastructure with self configuring capabilities based on standard and interoperable communication protocols where physical and virtual things have identities, physical attributes, and virtual personalities and use intelligent interfaces, and are seamlessly integrated into the information network. In the Internet of Things, things become active participants in business, information and social processes where they are enabled to interact and communicate among themselves and with the environment by exchanging data and information sensed about the environment, while reacting autonomously to the real/physical world events and influencing it by running processes that trigger actions and create services with or without direct human intervention. 6loW-PAN is a compressed version of IPv6 addressing scheme. It enables us to provide unique IPv6 address to each node in sensor network . So each node in sensor network will be connected to network .User from anywhere in the local network can get access to node and node also can send request to user . For application layer CoAP protocol is used . HTTP to CoAP Proxy will map request and response from HTTP to CoAP and vice-versa .This project is divided into two parts.First part is to develope 6loWPAN library and second part is to develope IOT system using Contiki operating system.Contiki operating system enhancement also carried out in this project.New platform support in Contiki OS is also performed.Power consumption and performance of this system is improved by using duty cycling protocols and routing protocols.
