Abstract: | plus Gymnema”. Standardization of herbal formulation is essential in order to assess the quality of drugs, based on the concentration of their active principles, physical and chemical standards. “Resveratrol plus Gymnema” capsules has a good amount if herbal ingredients which possess antidiabetic activity. Physicochemical parameters and Quality control parameters were evaluated as per AYUSH guidelines. Quantification of constituents was done by developing and validating UV-Visible Spectrophotometry and High performance thin layer chromatography. Quantification in UV-Visible method was done by absorption ratio method that involves measurement of absorbances at 318.4 nm for resveratrol, 303 nm for gymnemic acid and 349 nm as isoabsorptive point. HPTLC separation was achieved on precoated silica gel 60GF254 using chloroform: methanol: glacial acetic acid (13: 4: 0.1, v/v/v) as mobile phase. Quantification achieved with post derivatization by 0.5% vanillin- sulphuric acid at 575 nm. Comparison of quantification methods was done by applying unpaired t-test. By proposed work, standardization parameters are established for poly herbal formulation containing resveratrol and gymnemic acid. |
