Abstract: | peech therapy is critical for continuous improvement for the patients suffering from articulation disorders. Conventionally, speech therapy sessions are face to face and requires a patient to travel to a hospital or a speech therapy center for extended periods of time and at regular intervals of time; this makes the speech therapy not only a time consuming exercise in terms of travel for the young patient but also very expensive in terms of stay for extended duration near the speech therapy centers. Additionally, there is a severe shortage of trained speech therapists around the globe in general and in developing countries, like India, in particular. In this project, we develop a web based tool for photoarticulation test, where the patient is shown images and he is asked to say corresponding words. According to the response, evaluation of the speech is done, which helps in diagnosing the disorder to an extent. In this project, we also develop an algorithm to evaluate the disordered speech which will help in tracking patient's improvement. In this project, we use the mobile device to capture the speech of the patient and the evaluation of the speech is done on a remote server. The results, based on some parameter, are responded back on patient's device. Based on the results, therapist can provide appropriate feedback through a web console. |
