In fabrication based manufacturing industries, mostly welding cutting and grinding processes are carried out. The objective of this project is to tailor welding process for the organization involved in heavy fabrication work. A work study has been carried out for Anupam Group of Industries,(MHI) Nadiad and new process lay out has been proposed. Identifying waste, improper welding method and to make easy process. The challenge is to develop a systematic method which helps in continuously identifying eliminating the waste and easy to handle the process. Anupam Group of Industries, Nadiad has been chosen as a company to conduct case study for project work. This organization is known for manufacturing large size of Crane, collaborated with Japan MHI. In heavy size Crane production mostly all parts has to be cut from large size sheets, welding and grinding. There are some of waste activities identi_ed during observation including unnecessary transportations, inventory stack up and waiting. In order to reduce this waste, penal line in welding method is used, increase time production planning, pull system, production preparation process. As a result of this method, lead time has been reduced, increases efficiency of value adding activities and eliminates non value added activities and thus results into a better process performance. The main tool used in this project is penal line welding and roller bed for automation.en_US
