Abstract: | In recent years, industry has focused a considerable effort on reducing product development times while maintaining high quality levels. Even after advancements in 3D CAD technology, many CAD products have failed to deliver a integrated module which can improve design process, reduce cycle time, and cost effective. Product development begins with design process, which leads to product lifecycle from simulation and analysis through tooling design, drafting, manufacturing, assembly, service and support. Siemens NX software is an integrated product design, engineering and manufacturing solution that helps to deliver better products faster and more efficiently. With NX Drafting and PMI, we can quickly and easily create engineering drawings from 3D models using highly efficient drafting tools. The drafting software automatically creates drawing views from 3D part and assembly models, and helps user align and scale drawing views and arrange drawing sheets. In view of this, this project details the functional enhancements for Hole Tables in NX Drafting. This project is redesigning the existing Hole Table functionality along with some enhancements so that it could be made available in the core Drafting functionality for all its users. `Update Table Based on Delay View Update' mechanism introduced with this project improves existing `update' procedure, making it more user friendly and logical to use. Out-of-Date indicator introduced for Hole Table lets user know about the current state of the outdated Hole Table in a drawing sheet. Thus user gets the updated dimensions of the Holes instead of unknowingly using old dimensions. This project also facilitates user to select the Size Format of the Hole Table. This project also provides a new User Interface consistent with drafting functions to increase usability of the Hole Table command. |
