Abstract: Detection of crack in different structural elements like beams and shafts is very old subject of research but with new updating time, there is a need for fast and time saving methods for finding out the cracks or discontinuities in the structural element. Crack or notches in the beam affect the dynamics of structural element. Traditional techniques like NDT, Radiography, etc. are time consuming and tedious method especially in case of multi-span beam (long beams, pipe structures, other continuous systems) to study the dynamic analysis of un-cracked and cracked beam. In present study, the analytical method for crack detection in multi-span beam is proposed. The experimental verification is carried out for selected cases. Few cases are examined with FEA solution.
