In this paper we represent the basic idea about the Software Defined Radio (SDR) and have demonstrated the fundamental digital modulation schemes like Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK), Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), and Phase Shift Keying (PSK) using GNU Radio Companion. Gnu Radio can also be used in real time communication with the help USPR or RTLSDR which are composed of FPGA. Combination of GNU Radio Companion and USRP can be used to replace the traditional hardware radios.en_US
