Abstract: Cognitive radio allows for usage of licensed frequency bands by unlicensed users. However, these unlicensed (cognitive) users need to monitor the spectrum continuously to avoid possible interference with the licensed (primary) users. Performance of cognitive radio declined sharply due to noise uncertainty and cognitive users’ accessing will be serious interference to licensed users. This should be avoided in dynamic spectrum access technology. For this reason, a new Energy Detection algorithm based on dynamic threshold for combating the noise uncertainty is presented.
