Liquid storage tanks are considered as one of the lifeline structures. Water tanks, in particular are important to continue the operation of water distribution in event of earthquakes. Majority of the failures of large tanks during earthquakes are suspected to have resulted from the buckling caused by overturning moments of seismically induced liquid inertia and surface slosh waves. Post Earthquakes studies have shown that liquid storage tanks are found to be vulnerable to damage. After Bhuj Earthquake (2001) the guidelines for seismic design of water tanks were published by NICEE, India (2007), which deals with many parameters related to seismic effects in full tank and empty tank conditions. In the present study, the analysis of frame supported Intze tank is carried out as per said Indian guidelines in which the effects of various parametes like Zone factor and Response reduction factor is studied with tank full and empty conditions. The results are also compared with Eurocode (EC 8 part IV) guidelines.en_US
