Abstract: To achieve manufacturing flexibility, industrialists are continuously striving to increase the productivity by various approaches. In this work, investigation done is manufacturing twin lobe roots blower with the use of steel shaft. Including the design with modeling and analysis of shaft in rotors of lobes which are in casing. The existing rotor is made with Spheroidal grey cast iron material. After wearing of shaft the whole rotor essential to be replaced. It leads to increase in cost and delay in production activity. In proposed design, steel shaft as is introduced instead of existing cast S.G.Iron shaft. The S.G iron shaft is used in manufacturing of roots blower. The weight density of S.G iron shaft is higher so, the weight of overall rotor is increased. In this work the effort is made to replace the S.G iron shaft by C 45 low carbon steel material which reduces the material and cost. The procedure of designing a shaft is done according to IS 210 and IS 5456 & ASME code. As result, with the use of steel shaft the same lobe can be utilized. Rotor lobe & shaft can be separately machined with an alignment of axis. The existing casing of rotor is made up of cast iron material. During the working of machine it attains very high temperature within 5 to 6 hours so, entire casing needs to be cooled. Otherwise it leads to increase the overheating of machine and reduce the life of machine. In the proposed design of casing, it resist with the high temperature with the help of brine solution and it reduce the overheating of machine and increase the reliability of machine.
