Abstract: The Process pump and valves used in chemical industries are important and critical element of the process plant. The failure of these may cause a major loss to the industry. Process pump/valve bodies are required to be tested fully before use. The testing by conventional manual test rigs consumes more man power and reduces the production rate due to time consuming process of manual setup and installation. Over and above it increases the labour cost and fatigue. To overcome these difficulties, there is a need of automatic test rig for testing of process pump/valve bodies. The project deals with the designing and development of hydraulically operated automatic hydro test bench which is a general purpose test rig to accommodate different sizes of pump/valve bodies. The thesis describes the full design procedure of test bench frame, hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic circuit. The fabrication and assembly sequence is explained. The results of on-sight performance test also presented.
