dc.description.abstract | The demand for fresh water is increasing with the growth in world population, and obtaining an adequate supply of clean water has likely been the challenge for many countries. To solve this problem, recycling water from various sources is the best strategy. To remove the pollutants from waste water several treatments like adsorption, photo catalysis, Photo-Fenton, UV radiation, thermal treatments, biological treatments, advanced oxidation processes etc. are used. Advanced Oxidation Processes has gain attraction for treatment of dye waste water. Advanced oxidation processes are known to produce very powerful, non-selective hydroxyl radicals that are utilized in water treatment. The hydroxyl radical (.OH) acts very rapidly with most organic compounds. Catalytic ozonation has received increasing attention during past decades, due to its higher effectiveness in the degradation of organic pollutants. Organics can be oxidized by catalytic ozonation in the ambient temperature and pressure, which are difficult to dissociate by single ozonation. In the present experiment study, Reactive black 5 dye was used. There were many catalysts like Fe2O3, ZnO, TiO2, Cerium Oxide, Ce supported on Granular Activated Carbon, Ni supported on γ-Al2O3 were used. Here study shows that Cerium oxide catalyst gives overall better color removal and Total Organic Carbon removal. Cerium oxide catalyst is an effective ozonation catalyst for the mineralisation of RB - 5 dye. | en_US |
