Abstract: The industrial sector accounts for about 41% of the global primary energy demand and an equivalent share of carbon emissions. Improving energy efficiency of industries can result in a large saving of primary energy and a relative reduction in carbon emissions. Energy efficiency of industries can be achieved by adopting energy efficient techniques and modern technologies. MSME sector in India contributes to more than 40% of industrial energy consumption and awareness level for this sector is very poor. Objective of this project is to increase energy efficiency level and enhance awareness level of MSME sector cluster leading to result in a model MSME having energy efficient inputs from grass root level. In this project various MSME sectors were selected for energy efficiency study a chemical cluster was selected at Ankleshwar, foundry cluster at Ahmedabad, and toll plaza at Ahmedabad. Which is untouched and where awareness level is very less. Walk through audit were conducted and potential energy savings were identified for each selected cluster. Detail energy audit was also conducted for selected industries. Important parameter measured and analyzed the data. Suggestions were given with anticipated saving. Payback period was also calculated and conveyed to clients. Approach was to arrive to a common platform of suggestions for as particular cluster so that it becomes very easy to implement and gain actual savings. It also helps for capacity building development gradually. After energy auditing, 20% , 45% and 17% average energy saving potential finding out in foundry cluster, toll plaza cluster and chemical cluster. Outcome of the whole project is energy efficient suggestions/inputs for any cluster specific industry.
