Abstract: Oral cancer is third most common cancer reported globally. Occurrence and mortality rates due to oral cancer are increasing worldwide. Regardless of different treatments available against oral cancer, there are many limitations like recurrence of the disease, low effectiveness, side-effects and cost of the treatments with its compliance. These limitations accentuate the need of newer molecules against oral cancer. Many herbal molecules have been screened against the effect of different cancer cells, amongst which one is polyphenols. One of the richest sources of polyphenols is Euphoria longana, which consist of Gallic acid, Ellagic acid Corilagin and Geranin as major polyphenols. Earlier reports have shown great potential of this polyphenols against the liver cancer, skin cancer, colon cancer and ovarian cancer in-vitro. Despite this, till date no reports are available on its effect of polyphenols for oral cancer.
