The generation of harmonics and reactive power flow in a power system is greatly influenced by the widespread use of Power Electronic converters in addition to other sources of harmonics and reactive power. In this project a space vector modulated Three-level Neutral Point Clamped Converter in rectification and regeneration modes for the power quality improvement will be dealt with. Specifically this project also identifies the capacitor voltage unbalance at the DC bus of an Inverter due to the switching pattern of the power devices and switches and tries to achieve the capacitor voltage balance by the redundant switching vectors depending on the polarity of the voltage difference and the direction of power flow. The modulation scheme also ensures minimum switching losses. Proposed scheme has wide input range and good input side power factor. This report deals with simulation and results of a three-phase neutral point clamped active front-end converter using the PSIM simulation tool. The simulation also deals with the overview of TMS320F2808 DSP to be utilized in the control strategy of the converter in the hardware setup. The main aim is to develop a prototype of the converter .The target application of this converter topology in this project will be in Active Front End rectifier.en
