Abstract: | Focus on green and clean power, and likely scarcity of conventional fossil energy, wind power generation has emerged as the most encouraging renewable energy sources among the various renewable energy sources. As number of wind farms connected to grid is increasing, it leads to instability in power system as the generation is not constant. Direct drive synchronous generator is also becoming popular for power generation, however, it has adverse impact on power system oscillations. The dissertation report covers small signal analysis of power system, when direct drive synchronous generator is connected to the power system. Analysis of system stability and its impact on different power system networks is presented. To determine the small signal behavior, eigen value analysis is carried out. Traces of eigen values gives a relation between mode shape and state variables by which influences of controllers parameter. With the help of eigen values obtained, one can analyze the impact of DDSG on the stability of the power system and it also helps in designing the controllers parameters. The eigen values are obtained analytically and validated through software for various test systems and presented. |
