The expanded electrical power utilization bring grid to be driven close to or even beyond their transfer capability resulting in overloaded lines and congestion. FACTS devices resolved this stuy by changing as well as controlling appropriate values of ac- tive and reactive power flows. FACTS devices will be connected to a transmission network in different ways, such as in shunt, series or a combination of shunt and series. Shunt FACTS devices are utilized to regulate transmission voltage, power flow, reduc- ing damping of power system oscillation and also control reactive power for high power transfer levels. The STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) is used for reactive power compensation on electrical transmission line. A STATCOM is a controlling gad- get utilized on AC power transmission system. It is taking into account a voltage source converter and can go about as either a source or sink of reactive ac energy to a power system. Generally a STATCOM is introduced to support electricity network that have low power factor and penniless voltage regulation. The main properties of STATCOM are fast response time, need less space prerequisite, optimum voltage stand, greater operational flexibility and superior dynamic characteristics under different operating conditions.en_US
