Abstract: Multilevel topology of inverter offers several advantages as compared to the conven- tional 2-level 3-phase bridge inverter in terms of lower dv=dt stresses, lower electro- magnetic compatibility, smaller rating of devices and better output voltage waveform. In this project simulation model and hardware model have been developed for 3-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) inverter. Model will be analyzed for NPC topology of multilevel inverter using two different control schemes, multicarrier PWM and space vector PWM. Comparative study of the both control schemes for NPC topology are carried out and the obtained results shows that the SVPWM control scheme is better than multicarrier PWM scheme. For hardware implementation of the same, Arduino Uno and Due are the two microcontrollers used. The interfacing of the MatLab and Arduino Uno and Due is carried out for the output and the control pulses are generated using MATLAB. The entire simulation and hardaware implementation of 3-level NPC inverter using the both schemes mentioned above is successfully done and verified.
