Abstract: | Horn antenna is used as a feed for re ector antenna. The performance of re ector antenna largely depends on the performance of the feed horn. Hence, it is necessary that the horn antenna illuminating the re ector should have optimum performance in terms of high gain, low side lobes and low cross-polarization. There are several techniques to optimize the performance parameters, e. g. gain, side lobes, cross- polarization, etc. of a horn antenna. One of the techniques is to load the horn antenna with dielectric material. In the present thesis, the research outcome of dielectric loaded horn antennas (DL- HAs) is discussed. Several designs of DLHAs are discussed with the simulated results. The results of return-loss, gain, side lobe level (SLL) and cross-polarization level of the proposed DLHAs are compared with that of the conventional horn an- tenna. In all cases, the improvement in terms of gain, SLL and cross-polarization was noticed for the proposed DLHAs. |
