Abstract: | In today's world, time synchronization between different devices plays very impor- tant role in functionality of devices. Many devices like relay, event manager, time display units etc. are connected with each other via internal network or internet. These devices should be synchronized with each other with respect to time and for that, one device required, is GPS Master Clock. This thesis will describe about NTP (Network Time Protocol) by thorough under- standing of its packet and working. The concepts of stratum and offset are brie y discussed. NTP has different authentication types which are brie y explained with its implementation. The other protocols related to project SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) are also brie y discussed with their working. SNMP is used to configure different parameters and to send traps to SNMP server. Nowadays internet is transforming from IPv4 to IPv6 addressing scheme to have more number of IP address globally. The IPv6 addressing scheme is analyzed in detailed and implemented as a part of thesis. The functionality and use of different tools like wireshark, MIB Browser, putty, NMEA302 and NMEAGEN118 are also explained. Along with this utilization of these tools to maximum extension are explored. Each device which works based on software can be upgraded in future with more number of features. Upgrading an entire software or any small part of it using dif- ferent applications is also demonstrated by implementation in this work. The industries are having very strict rules about testing and verification of any product. Methods of testing of different functionalities are discussed and procedure of verification are explained in brief. Generating and maintaining report of testing and verification are discussed. |
