Abstract: A Transport tank is commonly used for transporting liquid container from one place to another. Transport tank is attached on the chassis of the vehicle. Superstructure is mounted on the chassis. Mountings are used to join the chassis with tank. The present work discusses the alternate mounting arrangement in the form of Belleville washer in place of U-bolt which is used frequently for mounting purpose. Initially, the forces which come on the mountings are estimated analytically following various guidelines as well as using AUTOCAD software. The design of the U-bolt is verified for the static as well as fatigue loading. The safety factor is estimated for the same. Moreover, the safety factor for U-bolt mounting is also determined using ANSYS 16.0. The main objective of this thesis work is the development of flexible mounting structure for transport tank. The mountings with Belleville washer are designed for a given loading condition which can resist high load with less deflection. The stresses induced in the Belleville washer is ‘determined analytically as well as using ANSYS 16.0. Behavior of Belleville washer with stacked in parallel, series and combination of parallel and series are examined. Combined stacking Belleville washer mounting structure is designed for the present application which gives more flexibility and load bearing capacity. Moreover, structural components such as flange, bolt and angle plate required for mounting of Belleville washer are designed. Further, Stability ratio is calculated for transport tank which effects on riding comfort. Load on front and rear axle is calculated in laden condition of the tank. Small software is prepared in Microsoft Visual Basic for simplicity in calculation of stability ratio which involves number of iterations.
