Abstract: Seating system plays a very important role in automobile industry. Design of automobile seat is based on anthropometry and Ergonomical studies. Automobile seat is responsible for occupant comfort and car interior theme. Designing parameters of automobile seat varies with different human bodies from different region to region that is why study of height and weight percentile is necessary to consider. This thesis covers detailed study of percentile of human body configurations, anthropometry data and Ergonomical studies which are taken as input data for designing of automobile seat. Automobile seat is consist of structure, foam, plastic parts and seat covers etc. Development of automobile seat structure depends on various function of automobile seat and body in white (BIW) of car. This thesis also covers fit parameters, feel parameters, and support parameters. Reclining of back rest of seat is very important function of the automobile seat for adjustment of seating posture and comfort. In this thesis we have carried out the designing of recliner handle with consideration of anthropometry, Ergonomical studies and the manufacturing feasibility.
