Abstract: The toggle clamp mechanism is most efficient and good results; it is mostly used in the clamping part of plastic injection molding machine. The geometric model of plastic injection moulding machine of the simple 5-point double-toggle clamp mech- anism is developed to analysis the kinematic and mechanical behaviors of double- toggle clamp mechanism. The kinematic analysis of the simple 5-point double-toggle clamp mechanism is use in the study of the double toggle parameters of the plastic injection moulding machine. The parameter consider in this work are the stroke ratio(stroke of moving platen to stroke of crosshead), velocity ratio ( velocity of moving platen to velocity of crosshead), the amplified force ratio (force on moving platen and force on cross head), the speed profile of moving platen. The optimized parameter of the simple 5-point double toggle clamping mechanism are obtaining from the various results of velocity ratio, stroke ratio the amplified force ratio and speed profile of moving platen. Effect of different parameters on simple 5-point double toggle mechanism is presented. Coefficient of friction at various pin joint is assume identical and how it is effect on the mechanical advantage is presented. And also presented the interference effect on the simple 5-point double toggle clamp mechanism.
