Abstract: | This dissertation work aims at concept design & development of hybrid powertrain for subcompact car that contains the design of gears, selection of electric motor. The main objective of this project is to design hybrid powertrain for the subcompact car. The designed hybrid powertrain should deliver better performance than the conventional one. To achieve the better performance following methodology is applied. Benchmarking Various models of hybrid cars are available in the market are compared for the getting the knowledge about the best configuration and the parameters for the various components. Environmental Scan Study of the Indian auto industry is done for the selection of the vehicle segment and the vehicle type. From the study the subcompact car type of vehicle is selected. Concept layout design Concept layouts of hybrid powertrain prepared for the comparison with each other and finalized one efficient and cost effective layout. Essential parameters considered for the selection of the electric motor and the battery. Simulation Simulation of conventional as well as the hybrid car is done for the comparison of the results. From these results, performance improvement can be represented. Design Design of gears is done on KISSsoft software. Modeling of components, assemblies and section views of assemblies are prepared in computer aided three dimensional interactive interface (CATIA) software. |
