dc.description.abstract | Flow induced vibration of tubes is critical parameter in shell and tube heat exchanger design. In present work, flow induced vibration analysis of Ethylene Oxide reactor tubes has been carried out. Study of flow induced vibration mechanisms has been carried out to understand the phenomena of tube vibration in the reactor tube bundle. The standard procedure of TEMA for calculation of flow induced vibration has been modified for calculation of cross flow velocity from nozzle. Same modified method has been used in the present work. Natural frequency is critical parameter to find out vibration response of any system. Modal analysis has been conducted to find natural frequency of tube for both span wise and multi span configuration. The MATLAB program and ANSYS APDL code has been developed for modal analysis. Optimization of baffle has been conducted because natural frequency of tube as it is highly depends baffle location and No. of baffles. Code in visual basics language has been prepared for vibration response calculation using modified TEMA procedure. Harmonic analysis has also been carried out for both span wise and multi span configuration using ANSYS APDL code. Results of modified TEMA procedure are compared with ANSYS harmonic analysis and results are in good agreement. Computational fluid dynamics approach has been used to find out velocity distribution around tubes in reactor tube bundle. Further by using velocity input from CFD vibration response calculation has been done using modified TEMA method. This type of problem need to carry out moving mash analysis, hence Fluid structure analysis has been carried out to find out deformation of tubes. | en |
