Abstract: | As Technology is increasing with tremendous pace, the curiosity of people towards innovation are drastic. There is a trend of the digital world, so there would be the great impact of Intelligent Transport System (ITS). It is basically an advanced technology to optimize traffic congestion issues and guiding travelers for a better trip. All developed countries are having well-developed Transportation infrastructure while developing countries are slowly and gradually adopting various technologies for its sustainable development. People feel stressed as they need to rush for their work on time which leads to various accidents. Also, people are preferring less public transportation as it is full of inconvenience and in today's world no one spare loss of time. This leads to Intelligent Transportation System i.e. smart way of using services with integration of various technologies. ITS can reduce traffic congestion on roads by creating innovating ways to increase the capacity of current infrastructure. Advanced travel information is the key feature of ITS which guide driver to plan the route accordingly. To expand infrastructure in India it will take more time to setup state of the art infrastructure. Hence, technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) can be used with the existing infrastructure for an efficient transportation system.IoT (Internet of Things) provides the network to connect people, things, application, and data through the Internet to enable remote control and management. Hence, this thesis demonstrates the concept of designing ITS using IoT in public transportation. It contains sensor system, processing system and display system where customized information is provided to the consumer via end device. Hence, a smart system is developed to provide easiness to people by providing various information. GPS module is used to give the current location. Even SMS service is provided to track bus using GSM/GPRS module. Passenger count and seat occupancy status can be known using PIR sensor and Capacitive sensor. |
