Abstract: Variable speed drive system needs variable voltage and variable frequency supply. This type of supply can be achieved by using voltage source inverter. Many Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are used to achieve variable voltage and variable frequency from a voltage source inverter. Out of all the PWM techniques Sinusoidal PWM and Space Vector PWM techniques are mostly used. In recent time use of Space Vector PWM technique has increased because it is easy for digital implementation and it also offers better utilization of dc link voltage compared to Sinusoidal PWM. In this project, focus is on step by step development of simulation of space vector PWM technique and implementation of same for drive type of load under open loop and closed loop control. Modification in conventional space vector PWM scheme is simulated and results were analysed. A hardware prototype model was be developed to validate the results.
