Abstract: Application of permanent magnet material substantially enhances performance of electrical motors. Permanent magnet motors are broadly classified as Radial-flux motors and Axial-flux motors according to direction of flux established in magnetic circuit. Axial-flux permanent magnet motor has better features than radial-flux permanent magnet motors. It offers better utilization of copper, high power density, high efficiency and adjustable length of airgap. This project aims to design and performance estimation of axial flux PMBLDC motor. Based on design information, FE analysis will be carried out and sub- stantially fabrication of motor will be carried out. High energy Nd-Fe-B type permanent magnet material will be utilized to achieve compactness and high efficiency. Various design variables will be assumed properly and influence of selection of these design variables will be analysed. After parametric analysis, refinement in the design will be done if required.
