dc.description.abstract | Storage silos for bulk material are in ever increasing demand, with the newer ones often surpassing any built previously in both capacity and complexity. Industry is also developing new uses for silos, beyond mere storage. These trends points to the need for an up-to-date, comprehensive presentation of structural analysis and design information to aid the designers, and builders, and users of the modern storage silos and bunkers for the industry and agriculture . Bunker and silo is one of the storage structure required for industrial plants to store various types of materials such as coal, grains, cement etc. Hence it is necessary to appraise regarding the design procedures for such structures which includes the study of codal provisions leading to analysis and design along with detailing of the same. This report includes the analysis and design of the steel silo structure. The aim of this report is to find the effect of corrugated sheet in analysis and design of steel silo and to understand the process of storage system for the purpose. By using different shapes such as hopper bottom and flat bottom. The steel silo is analyzed for various loads like Wind load, Earthquake load, dead load and live load, equipment load, thermal effect. The analysis and design of the structure is carried out by using STAAD-Pro 2007 and checked manually. The comparative study by using different height and diameter. And advantage of the vertical storage system over the horizontal storage system and terms related to the grain storage like temperature, moisture, fumigation and design criteria for silos. | en |
