Applications of Aircraft hangar building have gained high popularity considering the value of commercial and military aircraft during twentieth century. Advancement in size of aircraft and high speed computer applications, as well as rapid growth in construction technology has led its way to find economical and simpler design using various structural systems for clear large span Aircraft hangar. Present study is carried out with an objective to understand the various structural systems, geometry and structural behavior of Aircraft Hangar. The hangar design is influenced significantly by its size and by the effect on its height of hangar building dictated by the closeness of the main and secondary runways. Study of single bay aircraft hangar planning, analysis and design for Boeing 747 is carried out. Square on square offset, square on diagonal and triple layer grid with square configuration of top, middle and bottom chord roofs are studied for 95.2m long and 85.6m wide nose in single bay aircraft hangar. Clear height at the door edge of aircraft hangar is 24.1m is taken. Static analysis of double layer grid and triple layer grid for stepped roof of aircraft hangar using steel material is carried out using STAAD.Pro 2006 software. Parametric study of change in topology of space truss roof for aircraft hangar is carried out. Exact method of static analysis for single bay aircraft hangar is carried out for door open condition using STAAD.Pro 2006. For the aircraft hangar the static wind load case is governing. Due to the governing wind load case the axial force and moments are very larger. Study of design of octatube plate connections in space truss roof is carried out. Design of roof members, columns, beams, bracing and footing for single bay aircraft hangar is carried out.en
