Abstract: Recent advances in design and information technologies, combined with increasing emphasis within the industry to address cost, schedule and labor issues, have encouraged the use of modularization. Key factors influencing the decision-making on use of changing construction environment have also expanded and changed. Successful implementation of modularization requires a systematic analysis and decision-making process to evaluate the potential benefits and barriers to using these methods on projects. This report includes introduction to modularization and equipment supporting structures, which further explains loading and design considerations. Equipment supporting structure of plan dimension 14.4m X 21m, consisting of three longitudinal and five transverse frames has been considered for study of modularization. Different loadings, besides dead load & live load, equipment load/piping load (empty, test, operating condition), wind load and seismic load are applied. Analysis and Design of the structure has been carried out using Indian Standards. Transportation analysis is carried out for module. Module size is finalized after leaving the cantilever and projected portions, which will be carried along loose and site assembled. Trailers are considered for transportation of module. Two different trailer positions have been compared. Acceleration and slope forces are applied for transportation analysis.
