The simultaneous occurrence of Fenton and Electro-Fenton process is an attractive process for remediation involving high toxicity and low biodegradability species. A multivariate experimental design can be applied to the treatment of industrial influent containing phenolic compound in order to evaluate the use of the Fenton reagent. Hence, this project report gives different characteristics of wastewater, norms of phenol for different industrial sector, various technologies for the removal of toxic compounds i.e. Phenolic compounds, various Advanced oxidation technologies, Fenton and Electro Fenton process. And also gives the evolution of toxicity through all the degradation process by characterizing the toxicity level of phenolic compound and its reaction intermediates. Hydrogen peroxide and ferrous iron appears as a main direct effect for a favorable COD and phenol reduction in the Fenton & Electro Fenton process. Reaction time, pH, distance between electrodes, applied current and ratio of H2O2/Fe+2 have also an important effect in the phenolic compound degradation. The selection of the correct Fenton reagent load is the most important aspect that should be considered during the treatment process. In Kinetic study, the proposed model appeared to adequately represent the key mechanism and kinetics shared by the tested phenols. This work can be useful in understanding the effects of parameters such as pH, H2O2 on the rate of oxidation of organic compounds by oxidation processes involving complex chemical reactions.en
