T is a new and hot topic nowadays but it is not a new concept. In 1999, Kevin Aston gave a simple but very powerful method. Today achieving security in IoT is the hardest thing. To analyze a security threat and provide a possible solution is the top barrier in IoT as the word IoT means interconnection of devices and people. In this context, under-standing the risk related to the misuse of information of the residents is studied. The ever increasing use of smart home devices like fans, lights, Nest smoke-alarm etc raises security concern to the owners. In this paper, first real devices available in the market are studied and what are the threats related to it. Due to increase in the use of smart home devices, the increase in attacks is also noticed and hence it is very important to provide security. Therefore, a solution is proposed that network-level security be used along with device level. Further, SDN technology be used to block the devices which is based upon activity in the network.en_US
