Abstract: | PREVALENCE OF ANEMIA IN PRE-SCHOOL TRIBAL CHILDREN AND ITS ASSOCIATION WITH GASTRO-INTESTINAL INFECTIONS BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Anaemia is characterized by reductions in hemoglobin concentration, Red blood cells or PCV and the insufficiency in meeting the oxygen requirement by the tissues. Anaemia is especially prevalent among rural children, and the majority of India’s population (72.2%) is rural. The National Family Health Survey has stated anaemia as a major health problem in Gujarat, especially among children. Etiology of anaemia is multifactorial which includes: nutritional deficiencies, genetic factors, infec-tious diseases like soil transmitted helminthes, malabsorption and other disorders of the intestine. In this study, we have tried to find any association between the prevalence of anemia and enteric infec-tions in tribal children. This study focuses on tribal hildren due to certain adverse realities like in-sufficient food intake, frequent infections, lack of access to health services, illiteracy, unhygienic personal habits and adverse cultural practices. The objective of the study is to find out the prevalence of anaemia in tribal pre-school children and its association with gastroin-testinal infections. The objective of the study is to evaluate the effect of different HDACs on cancer cachexia and its cardiovascular complication. MATERIALS AND METHOD: It is a cross-sectional study carried out on 217 subjects out of the 500 subjects enrolled. The subjects are tribal pre-school children, aging between 6 months to 5 years of both genders living in Santram-pur, Gujarat. This study was carried out from August 2017 to May 2018. House to house survey was conducted and questionnaires were filled and the Informed consent forms were signed by the subjects’ parents or legal guardians. Then, blood collection and its testing was carried out which was followed by stool collection and testing. |
