dc.description.abstract | Prevalence of Anemia in Pre-School Tribal Children and Its Association With Malnutrition And Genetic Haemoglobin Disorders BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Anaemia is consider as a condition in which there is decrease in the haemoglobin concentration and concomitant in impaired oxygen carrying capacity. Various factorsare responsible for causing anaemia in children like deficiency in nutrition, genetic haemoglobin disorders and various infections. Worldwide analysis recently identified childhood malnutrition as leading risk factor for global burden of diseases and 56% of childhood death occur due to anaemia. It is been estimated that 7% of the global population is the carrier of genetic disorders and survey in south Gujarat result that prevalence of beta Thalassemia is 4.4% and Sickle Cell Anaemia is 1.3% it also the cause of anamia in children. Malaria is also responsible in causing anaemia as per data3,06,000 children under the age of five died due to malaria it is also an alarming situation. In this study, we made an attempt towards assessing nutritional status, and other morbities among pre- school tribal children due certain adverse reality like insufficient food intake, frequent infection, illiteracy, unhygienic habits and least awareness about health care services. The objective of the study is to find out the prevalence of anemia in tribal pre-school going children in association with malnu- trition and genetic haemoglobin disorders. MATERIALS AND METHOD: It is a cross-sectional study carried out at Santrampur, Mahisagar district,Gujarat in preschool tribal children. he enrolled subject are 217in number with both gender eligibity, ageing from 6months to5years and pecifically from tribal community only. This study was started from August 2017 to May 2018. Firstly houseto house survey was carried out to enrolled the subject and questionnaires were filled and informed consent form was signed by subject parent or legal guardian. After the enrollment of the subject blood collection was done and testing was carried out. | en_US |
