Abstract: | AD was known more than hundred years ago when Alois Alzheimer and others described this pernicious disease’s pathological hallmarks. The AD is a commonly found neuropsychiatric condition that affects the elderly people extensively. A deteriorating brain disease of which the cause is unknown, can evidently be said as the most evident form of dementia, that often starts in late 60’s or after, that results in gradual deterioration of memory, collision of reasoning, disturbance in orientation, alterations in personality and temper, that leads in advanced cases to a profound reduction in perceptiveness and physical operation, and that is marked pathologically by the deterioration of brain neurons specifically within the cerebral cortex and by the existence of neurofibrillary tangles and plaques accommodating beta-amyloid. Neuropathologists have been recognizing protein (amyloid) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) in the autopsy of human brains suffering from AD since Dr. Alois Alzheimer's time, pointing to these disease-causing pathologies. Amyloidal plaques are extracellular residues of Aβ in the brain parenchyma and also in the cerebral blood vessels where congophilic angiopathy and/or cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) are commonly referred. NFTs consisted mainly of neuronal and synaptic loss combined with helical filaments with hyperphosphorylated tau proteins [1]. 1.1.2 How Does Alzheimer's Affect People's Lives? EFFECTS OF CAREGIVING: Many caregivers draw a contentment and a sense of growth from caregiving however, may have difficulty balancing their own needs and those of the person associated/suffering from the disorder. The job of looking after the person suffering from Alzheimer's disease could variedly impact the substance of life of those involved in the whole picture. The degree to which they could be impacted may be guided by: • The nature (parent, spouse, friend, lover) and quality of the relationship between the affected and the custodian |
