Abstract: | The purpose of this report is to present basic and detail engineering for the chlorination of benzene. The Basic and detailed engineering includes material and energy balance, design basis process flow diagram (PFD), process data sheet for static and rotary equipment, piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), and instrument process data sheet. Material and energy balance is done by the process simulator; here in this case state of art UNISIM R390. Simulation software has been used. These Studies consist of consolidating a process package initiated by an external licensor. The Chlorination of benzene plant was designed to achieve 200 TPD Monochlorobenzene (MCB) productions. UNISIM software was used for steady state simulation for commercial chlorination of benzene plant and extended NRTL was chosen from the fluid property package for calculating the thermodynamic properties of the process. These Basic engineering data is used for development of piping and instrument diagram released for construction, development of detailed piping drawings, development of detailed drawings related to instrumentation, electrical facilities and civil works, procurement of various fabrication item and static and rotary equations. |
