Due to lesser availability of coal and environmental aspects of coal base generation, the focus has been shifted to renewable energy sources. Because of the lesser per unit cost of wind generation compared to solar power, wind is getting more importance. So the generation from wind generating unit is increasing day by day. Due to the large penetration of wind generating unit, in existing system, it is important to analyze the behavior of wind generating unit in different condition. The project explains the one of the effect of wind generating unit in existing system. The response of wind turbine in short circuit condition will be different as the type of wind turbine will vary. The short circuit response of wind generating unit depends on the factors like availability of reactive power, voltage of bus with wind turbine is connected, machine parameters, controller setting etc. The short circuit behavior of wind generating unit is one of the important factor for study for LVRT and protection scheme which should be used to protect wind generating unit. The short circuit behavior will change as the reactive power source will change. i.e self compensated, directly connected to grid or connected to the bus whose voltage is controlled by SVC or STATCOM. The main purpose in this project is to study the effect of short circuit of wind turbine on the system parameters.en_US
