The primary function of the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is to control power flow on a given line and voltage at the UPFC bus. The UPFC is a FACTS device which can control power system parameters such as terminal voltage, line impedance and phase angle. The proposed work is to design the UPFC connected to a Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system with Power System Stabilizer (PSS) used to improve dynamic stability of the power system. In which, with the help of Haffron- Phillip model, the dynamic stability of the power system will be investigated. In the proposed work mathematical modelling of UPFC with the additional Power Oscillation Damping (POD) controller will be designed. Also, the coordinated action of PSS and POD controller will be analysed to damp the power system oscillations. The simulation work is to be carried out in MATLAB Simulink.en_US
